People come from all over the world and sharing
experiences is how we can unite. Why not with a little
something to drink.
In Turkey there’s a saying, “Bir Fincan Kahvenin Kırk
Yıl Hatırı Vardır”, meaning a cup of coffee has the
memory of 40 years. When we share those memories, we
are allowing ourselves to get closer to one another.
We have all scattered to the four corners of the
world, we do not need to be more distant than we
already are. We could just share our memories with
people we meet so we can live all together at once in
peace and harmony.
This way I believe the wall of prejudices and stereotypes we have against each other would break easier. We would get to see that we may look different but everyone lives similar things from time to time. We are all human after all so why the long distance – covid is tearing people apart anyway. Talking to different types of people would actually help us better understand each other. Even if there needs to be some physical distance, we don’t need to completely fall astray. Having a cup of coffee with one or two other people might just be what you need to lighten your day anyway.
